Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a big decision regarding Pakistanis living on short term visa in Uttarakhand. CM Dhami has given clear instructions that all Pakistani citizens who came on short term visa and medical visa should be sent back as soon as possible.

This decision of the Chief Minister has been taken after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. After this attack, many important decisions were taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet Security Committee (CCS), under which the states have been asked to remain alert.
In this sequence, the work of identifying Pakistani citizens has also been expedited in Uttarakhand.

Strict instructions given to the police

After the order of CM Dhami, the Home Department has sent a letter to the Police Headquarters to take necessary steps. It is clearly written in it that Pakistani citizens living in the state should be identified quickly and they should be sent out of the country as soon as possible. The Director General of Police (DGP) and other senior officers have been given the responsibility of this work.

Two Pakistanis sent back from Dehradun

On Thursday, two Pakistani citizens living in Dehradun were sent back after their visas expired. According to the police, now a Pakistani citizen is also living in Haridwar, who will be sent out of India soon. According to the information, currently no Pakistani citizen is living in the state on medical visa.

Big decision of Ministry of External Affairs

The Government of India has also stopped visa services for Pakistanis with immediate effect in view of the terrorist incident. The Ministry of External Affairs has canceled all valid Pakistani visas from April 27. However, medical visas have been kept valid till April 29. That is, Pakistanis who have medical visas will also have to return soon.

District-wise surveillance intensified

Chief Minister Dhami has ordered to call for daily reports from the police captains of all the districts. DGP Deepam Seth said that wherever Pakistani citizens are living in the state, they are being identified and action is being taken rapidly. Immediate action has been asked to be taken in view of any suspicious activity.

Why was this decision taken?

The recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir has raised concerns across the country. Since then, the central government and state governments have become fully alert. Uttarakhand is a sensitive state, where a large number of tourists also visit. Keeping security in mind, the investigation and return of Pakistanis who came on short term visas has been considered necessary.
